ÉRIK DESMAZIÈRES
At the workshop
After studying at Sciences-Po, Erik Desmazières found his path and began engraving in 1971. For 40 years he has collaborated with a Parisian printer, René tazé, to whom he wishes to pay tribute.
The exhibition at l’Orangerie gives the opportunity to see drawings, engravings and prints enhanced in colors representing the successive workshops of the latter. We thus enter one of the few and last intaglio or copper engraving printing workshops still existing in Paris and we discover this equally exemplary and faithful collaboration between an artist and his printer, nowadays associated with two young collaborators, Berengère Lipreau et Domitile Araï.
Futhermore, projects which take account of other studio views are being sought.
It echoes the publication of “Dans l’atelier, Erik Desmazières, engraver – René tazé, printer – an artistic collaboration 1978-2018 –by Documents 15 Gallery at 5 Continents publishing house.
Erik Desmazières has been a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts since 2008.
