Dubuffet exhibition, galerie baudoin lebon
Dubuffet From May 5 , 2021 to June 30, 2021
« Man’s need for art is absolutely primordial, as strong as, and perhaps stronger than our need for bread. Without bread, we die of hunger, but without art we die of boredom. » Jean Dubuffet
On the occasion of the opening of the gallery’s new space at 21 rue Chapon in Paris, baudoin lebon is pleased to present a selection of works by Jean Dubuffet (1901-1985) from May 5, 2021 to 30 June 30, 2021.
A major and outstanding figure of the 20th century, Jean Dubuffet occupies a special place in the gallery’s history.
The exhibition will present a series of unpublished drawings made between 1948 and 1981; inspired by the Matériologies cycle (including the Historiette de Terre, the result of his many experiments with matter), as well as the famous characters from the Hourloupe cycle.
