Marie-Jo Daloz and Vinça Monadé : DIALOGUES

L’Estampe Gallery is holding an exhibition of works by Marie-Jo Daloz and Vinça Monadé from September 14 to October 5, 2024.

The gallery brings together two distinct types of language to express the same concept of nature as an attempt to pay tribute to our singularities and to the plurality of cultures and ideas.

The starting point is a shared contemplation of nature.

Vinça Monadé explores angular shapes, sometimes softened by a tiny curve, which reach expressive fullness thanks to rich, luminous colour ; the dry pastel with which she covers her “landscapes”, in layers, offers the eye a play of light and shadow, nature for the artist is rendered in its simplest representation.

Cézanne came to mind: “Nature must be treated through the cylinder, the sphere and the cone”.

Marie-Jo Daloz expresses in her canvases the forests  she takes refuge in, to paint; the rapid, sweeping gesture in the service of a broad brushstroke alternates with a graceful note, as the wind blows across MJ’s canvases, Humus exhales its fragrances, the color scheme translates the presence of what seems silent, invisible.
The pictorial experience then becomes spiritual.
